KANO, NIGERIA — Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has announced that his administration has fulfilled 90% of the promises made to the people of the state within three years of assuming office.

Governor Yusuf made the disclosure on Saturday, May 30, 2026, while receiving the Emir of Rano, Ambassador Muhammad Isa Umaru, who paid him a traditional Sallah homage at the Government House in Kano. Details of the meeting were made public in a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesman and Director-General of Media and Publicity, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
During the gathering, Governor Yusuf said his administration has remained committed to delivering democratic dividends through people-oriented policies and impactful development projects across various sectors. He explained that significant progress has been recorded in education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, water supply, youth empowerment, and economic development, all aimed at improving residents’ living standards and repositioning Kano State for sustainable growth.
Key Commitments to Rano Emirate
The governor reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling the remaining promises before the end of his tenure and sustaining the pace of development across the state.
Addressing the visiting delegation, Governor Yusuf assured the Emir and the people of Rano Emirate of the timely expansion and dualisation of the Karfi–Rano Road. He also pledged the continued provision of subsidised fertiliser to farmers and the renovation of the Emir’s Palace, among other infrastructure projects.
Yusuf expressed gratitude to the people of the emirate for their support, patience, and confidence in his leadership, pledging to continue working tirelessly to justify the trust reposed in him.
Emir applauds institutional and infrastructure upgrades
Earlier, the Emir of Rano, Ambassador Muhammad Isa Umaru, commended the governor for what he described as the remarkable achievements recorded during the three years of his administration.
The royal father praised Governor Yusuf for completing five-kilometre road projects across Rano, Kibiya, and Bunkure Local Government Areas, as well as for the continued implementation of the Kaluwaiwai Water Project.
Ambassador Umaru also expressed appreciation for the governor’s efforts in securing the upgrade of the Rano Emirate Hospital to a Federal Medical Centre. He further lauded the conversion of the School of Rural Technology, Rano, into a Federal Polytechnic.
Concluding his remarks, the emir assured Governor Yusuf of the continued support and cooperation of his people in promoting peace, security, and stability in Kano State and Nigeria as a whole.
