The Federal Government has announced Thursday, May 1, 2025, as a public holiday in honour of this year’s Workers’ Day celebration.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Interior. She revealed that the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the government.

In the statement, Dr. Tunji-Ojo praised Nigerian workers for their commitment and sacrifices, describing them as the driving force behind the nation’s achievements and international recognition.

He stressed the importance of peace in fostering industrial and economic development, calling on workers to embrace innovation and productivity in their various fields.

The Minister also encouraged the workforce to raise the bar in their trade practices to enhance governance and ensure that all Nigerians benefit from the country’s resources.

He reaffirmed the government’s resolve to safeguard lives and property, noting that this commitment extends to both citizens and foreigners residing in Nigeria.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo concluded by wishing Nigerian workers a joyful celebration and urged citizens to remain optimistic, highlighting President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda as a symbol of the administration’s determination to deliver meaningful change.
