Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has lost one of its distinguished scholars, Professor Ladi Sandra Adamu, a renowned broadcast journalist and academic from the Department of Mass Communication.

Her death was confirmed on Wednesday by Dr. Kabiru Danladi Lawanti, a lecturer in the same department, who described her passing as a great loss to both the academic and media community.

Professor Adamu reportedly died in an Abuja hospital after a prolonged illness.

A trailblazer in her field, the late scholar was celebrated as the first female professor of broadcasting in Northern Nigeria. She earned degrees from Columbia College in Los Angeles, City University in London, and Loyola Marymount University in California.

Over the years, she worked in various capacities, including as a Public Relations Officer, News Editor, and broadcast journalist, before joining the academia where she mentored generations of media professionals.

Professor Adamu is survived by her son, Muhammad Bashir.

Her colleagues and students have continued to express their grief and admiration for her remarkable contributions to media education and broadcasting in Nigeria.
