Dr. Dahiru Hashim, the Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, announced the decision, stating that it would enable people to fully engage in festivities marking the end of Ramadan while also accommodating visitors arriving in the state.
“We want residents to focus on Sallah preparations and welcome visitors without worrying about the sanitation exercise,” Hashim said.
Despite the suspension, sanitation activities in government offices, motor parks, and marketplaces will proceed as planned on March 28, 2025. The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining environmental cleanliness while respecting cultural and religious traditions.
The monthly sanitation exercise is set to resume in April 2025, and authorities have urged residents to continue observing proper hygiene and waste management practices during the break.
