According to a statement issued by the Information Officer of Gwarzo Local Government Area, Yusif Idris Isyaku on Thursday, the Kabuga–Dayi road, once a vital link between the two states, has deteriorated into a “danger zone” filled with deep potholes and eroded sections. The release noted that the damaged road has led to frequent vehicle breakdowns, traffic disruptions, and increased insecurity, particularly at night.
Community representatives said the route, which serves as a major economic artery for local traders, now poses serious risks to motorists and pedestrians.
Speaking on behalf of the affected communities, Mujittapha Lawan Gwarzo appealed to both state and federal authorities to urgently intervene before the situation deteriorates further. He stressed that the road is no longer safe for travelers and that residents are experiencing untold hardship due to its deplorable state.
The residents also urged Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Deputy Senate President Barau I. Jibrin, and other relevant agencies to prioritize the rehabilitation of the road and enhance security measures along the route.
They further called on the Kano State House of Assembly and the lawmaker representing Gwarzo Constituency to initiate legislative efforts that would fast-track the road’s reconstruction and ensure the safety of road users.
