According to a statement from the Kano State Police Command, the suspects, identified as Michael Jatau, 39, and Haruna Aliyu Muhammad, 21, were apprehended on October 13, 2025, around 11:25 a.m. by officers from the Command’s Special Intervention Squad (SIS). The vehicle, a dark ash 2012 Toyota Corolla with registration number KRD-13-FW, was reportedly stolen in Abuja before being brought to Kano for sale.

Preliminary investigations indicate that both men have admitted to their involvement in the theft. They are expected to face court proceedings once police complete the investigation.

Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, praised the officers for their efforts and thanked members of the public for cooperating with the police through the community-focused crime initiative, “Operation Kukan Kura,” which has contributed to the arrest.
