Kano Kidney Foundation has donated the sum of Three million, five hundred thousand naira to Rufa’i Abba Ibrahim a graduate of Physiotherapy Department of Bayero University, Kano for his Kidney transplant surgery in Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.

The Chairman of the Foundation, Architect Ibrahim Haruna disclosed this to Information and Public Relations Unit of the hospital when he visited the patient after the successful surgery.

He explained that Kidney transplant has been one of the most expensive medical treatment especially in Nigeria, adding that many people with Chronic Kidney Failure find it difficult to sponsor themselves for the transplant thus the need for the Foundation to assist them becomes necessary.

Architect Ibrahim said that the assistance for this transplant has been one among other interventions /support given to kidney failure Patients through the hospitals that Provided dialysis services to the patients.

He also acknowledge the contributions of (Dr ) Alhaji Aminu Dantata and Alhaji Auwalu Abdullahi Rano, Chairman A A Rano Group to kidney patients for over a decade.

He also commended many other well spirited people that have been donating to the patients through the Foundation Charity Boxes located at various places such as Airport e t c.

The leader of the Kidney transplant in the hospital Professor Sani Alhassan expressed gratitude for the financial support, disclosing that the establishment of Tissue Typing and Cross matching Laboratory in Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital has made the transplant not only possible at this time but also cheaper for the patient as samples don’t have to be taken to Cairo or India for processing before the transplant is conduct.

Also, a consultant Nephrology, Professor Aliyu Abdu called on all Nigerian to be very conscious of their health and embraced healthy life style as well assist patients with kidney failure.
