The former governor of Kano State and leader of the NNPP, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, says Kano is under attack following the growing influx of bandits from neighbouring states.

Daily News 24 reports that he disclosed this on Saturday during the 4th Convocation ceremony of Skyline University, where he warned that armed groups from Katsina State are increasingly targeting border communities.

According to him, “Kano State has been secured until recently, but all our local governments around the Katsina border such as Shanono, Bagwai, Tsanyawa are now under attack from bandits coming from Katsina.”

Kwankwaso alleged that the criminals routinely cross into Kano to commit offences before retreating back to Katsina. “These bandits come from local government areas in Katsina, enter Kano to commit crime, and then return to Katsina. This must stop,” he said.

He expressed displeasure that some local government areas outside Kano have allegedly become safe havens for bandits, calling on the federal government to take necessary action before the situation gets worse.

Kwankwaso however commended the Kano State Government and thanked security personnel for what he described as their dedication and sacrifices so far but also called on the federal government to step in to ensure the safety of life and property, which he said is their primary assignment.

In his message to the graduating students, Kwankwaso congratulated them on their achievements and urged them to embrace discipline, innovation and patriotism as they move into the next phase of their lives.
