This development was made known on Monday in Abuja by the party’s Deputy National Secretary, Festus Faunter, following a closed-door meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC).
The NEC meeting comes after the resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje as APC National Chairman, citing health reasons. His resignation was accepted by the NWC, which expressed appreciation for his service and wished him well.
The NEC meeting is expected to play a key role in deciding the party’s next direction, including leadership transition, internal reorganization, and preparations for the 2027 general elections. The party has also sent a notice of the NEC meeting to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Ali Dalori has stepped in as the Acting National Chairman of the APC and has pledged to steer the party with transparency, unity, and inclusion. His leadership followed the directive of President Bola Tinubu after Ganduje’s exit. The party is also getting ready for forthcoming bye-elections as well as ward, local government, and state congresses, with dates to be announced later.
