The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has warned its members against joining a new political coalition being led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The acting National Chairman of the party, Ambassador Iliya Damagum, made this known during a press briefing in Abuja after a meeting of the party’s Board of Trustees.

He said the PDP would not tolerate any move by its members to participate in the new alliance and that disciplinary action would be taken against anyone involved.
According to Damagum, the PDP remains the most credible platform to lead opposition against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He dismissed the idea that any other group or coalition could effectively play that role and insisted that those who attempt to break away will eventually return.
He also accused some members of attempting to undermine the party by aligning with the ADC-led initiative, describing their actions as unhelpful and not in the interest of the PDP.
Reports have shown that some top figures within the PDP, including a former presidential candidate, have expressed support for the new coalition.
Earlier in the week, the PDP held a National Executive Committee meeting, where it announced that it had resolved long-standing internal disputes affecting the party.
