Armed bandits on Wednesday night invaded Kafin Maiyaki in Kiru Local Government Area of Kano State, leaving one vigilante dead and abducting the wives of a prominent trader.

Details of the incident were shared on Thursday by security analyst Bakatsine through a post on X.

Eyewitness reports said the gunmen targeted the home of Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmad Rufai, chairman of the Kafin Maiyaki traders’ association, where his wives were seized and taken away to an undisclosed location.

During the raid, a member of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) was shot dead while attempting to defend the community from the attackers.

Bakatsine explained that the assailants killed the vigilante and kidnapped the wives of Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmad Rufai, who is the chairman of the local traders’ association.

As of the time this report was filed, security authorities had not released an official statement regarding the attack.
