The new leadership, led by Comrade Murtala Adewale of The Guardian, was inaugurated following what Waiya described as a “peaceful and democratic process,” reflecting the confidence reposed in them by their colleagues.

This was contained in a statement signed by Sani Abba Yola, Director of Special Duties at the Kano State Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs.

Waiya praised the outgoing executives for their dedication and contributions to the growth of the Chapel, noting that their efforts laid a solid foundation for continued professionalism in the media space.

“The Correspondents’ Chapel plays a strategic role in shaping public discourse and promoting government policies,” the Commissioner said, describing the group as the “lens through which the wider world perceives developments in the state.”

He urged members to remain committed to accuracy, objectivity, and fairness, especially in an era challenged by the spread of misinformation.

The Commissioner also reaffirmed the Ministry’s readiness to strengthen its collaboration with the media, particularly in the areas of capacity building and professional development for journalists across the state.

He expressed confidence that the new leadership will further deepen mutual trust and cooperation between the Ministry and the Chapel, and wished them a successful and impactful tenure.
