Tobi Amusan, women hurdles world record holder, is at risk of being suspended following charges of missed drug tests.

However, Amusan has vowed to contest the allegations in order to defend her title at the upcoming World Athletics Championship in Budapest.

Sharing the development on her Instagram handle, Amusan revealed that she has been charged with three missed drug tests within a 12-month period.

This charge could potentially lead to a two-year suspension, even for athletes who have never failed a drug test.

In her statement, Amusan expressed her determination to fight the charges, with her case scheduled to be decided by a tribunal of three arbitrators before the start of next month’s World Championships.

Asserting her status as a clean athlete, Amusan emphasized that she undergoes regular testing by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), even being tested within days of her third alleged “missed test.”

Maintaining faith in a favorable resolution, Amusan remains optimistic about competing at the World Championships in August.

It is worth noting that Amusan currently holds the world record for the women’s 100m hurdles, with a remarkable time of 12.12 seconds set at last year’s World Athletics Championships.
