The order, titled Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports, directs federal agencies to withhold funding from schools that permit transgender athletes to participate in women’s teams. Institutions found violating this directive risk investigations and potential loss of federal funding.
During a signing ceremony at the White House, Trump reaffirmed his administration’s stance, stating, “Women’s sports will be only for women.” The event was attended by key Republican figures, including House Speaker Mike Johnson and Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Beyond domestic policies, Trump also announced plans to push the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to amend its regulations on transgender participation ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. He has tasked Secretary of State Marco Rubio with formally presenting the US government’s position to the IOC.
Additionally, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has been instructed to deny visa applications from individuals attempting to enter the US by claiming to be female athletes.
