His resignation from the NNPP was confirmed on Thursday during a plenary session of the House of Representatives when Speaker Tajudeen Abbas read a letter titled “Notification of change of political party membership” submitted by Rurum.
Rurum attributed his decision to the dissatisfaction of his constituents and the lingering internal crisis rocking the NNPP at both the state and national levels. He cited legal battles and factional disagreements as major factors that pushed him to switch parties.
In the letter, Rurum reaffirmed his loyalty to the 10th National Assembly, the APC across all levels, and to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Rurum, who currently chairs the House Committee on Air Force, was formally welcomed by the Speaker who described the APC as his home.
