On Thursday morning, protests against economic hardship intensified in Kano as demonstrators set up a bonfire in front of the Government House.

Protesters from various parts of the city had assembled at the Government House, expecting an address from Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Tensions escalated when a group of protesters gathered tires and set them ablaze near the gate.
