The Kano State Police Command has reaffirmed the ban on Durbar activities across the state ahead of the 2025 Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, June 3, the command, in collaboration with other sister security agencies, extended its warm wishes to Muslim faithful and residents for a peaceful and joyous Sallah celebration.

To ensure public safety during the festivities, the police stressed that the prohibition of all Durbar-related events remains in effect. This, they explained, is part of ongoing efforts to prevent a breakdown of law and order.
The ban, initially enforced during the last Eid-el-Fitr celebration, was according to the police, based on intelligence reports indicating that some groups were planning to exploit the Durbar for violent or disruptive purposes. The command noted that despite heightened security measures, these threats remain a concern.
Security agencies in the state have therefore resolved to maintain the ban to protect lives and property.
Worshippers and residents are advised to strictly observe the following guidelines during the celebrations:
- No horse or animal riding (Kilisa)
- No car racing or dangerous driving
- No unlawful possession or open display of weapons
- No carrying of suspicious or dangerous objects
Parents and guardians have been urged to warn their children and wards not to allow themselves to be used by those seeking to disrupt peace in the state.
The police also called on the public to remain vigilant, report any suspicious movements, and cooperate with law enforcement agencies to ensure a peaceful Sallah.
As part of the message, the command encouraged residents to offer prayers for the state, the nation, and the athletes who lost their lives while returning from the National Sports Festival.
This announcement comes just hours after the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, directed all district heads under the Kano Emirate to gather in Kano city for the 2025 Eid-el-Kabir Durbar. The directive instructed them to arrive with their horses and riders on June 4, and visit the Emir’s palace the following day for a briefing. A meeting is also scheduled at the council chamber in Kofar Kudu.
