Three men were on Monday brought before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly conspiring among themselves to impersonate staff of De-Legion organisation; to collect tolls.

The defendants – Bakare Sadiq, 31; Ranson Walter, 31, and Sheriff Nofia, 21 , whose addresses were unknown, were docked on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy and impersonation.

They pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Insp. Christian Okonofua, said that the defendants committed the offence on Feb. 2 at 10.00 a.m. at No.1, Odo-Nla Road, Odogunyan, Ikorodu.

Okonofua alleged that the defendants conspired with others at large to impersonate, by using De-Legion’s apron illegally.

He said that the defendants put on the apron to collect illegal money from members of the public, and forged receipts for illegal collection of tolls.

Okonofua said that the offence contravened Sections 411, 380(1) and 365(1) (i) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mrs T. A. Shotobi, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N250, 000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.

She adjourned the case until March 17 for mention. (NAN)
