The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Adamawa State has arrested five suspects and recovered 204 stolen pipes belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSC Amidu Baba, the suspects were intercepted on September 30, 2025, along the Jalingo–Numan road while conveying the stolen items to Yobe State.

He explained that the trailer used for the operation was loaded with iron pipes concealed under bags of chaff to disguise the illegal cargo as farm produce. The interception, he said, followed an intelligence-led operation by NSCDC operatives who acted swiftly to prevent the theft.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the pipes were dug out from a bush in Mararaba Abbare, located in Lau Local Government Area of Taraba State. The suspects were allegedly transporting the pipes from Taraba to Yobe State for possible sale.

DSC Baba noted that the successful operation demonstrates the Corps’ ongoing commitment to protecting Nigeria’s critical infrastructure from vandalism and theft.

He added that the suspects are currently in custody and that a thorough investigation is ongoing to uncover others involved in the illegal act.
