The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has arrested two suspected vandals for alleged theft of mosque property and electrical cables.
In a statement issued on Monday, the NSCDC disclosed that one of the suspects, Murtala Aliyu Muhd, 35, a resident of Dawakin Dakata in Nassarawa Local Government Area, was apprehended at Yankaba Eastern Bypass roundabout.

He was found with a solar energy battery allegedly stolen from the Dakata Juma’at Mosque. According to the NSCDC, Muhd gained access to the mosque through a window late at night before making away with the battery.
The suspect was intercepted the next day while attempting to sell the stolen item at a local market. “He could not provide any satisfactory explanation about the source of the battery,” the NSCDC stated. Muhd also confessed to stealing N300,000 from one of the mosque’s servants in a separate incident.
In another case, 19-year-old Musbahu Sani, a resident of Darmanawa quarters in Tarauni Local Government Area, was arrested with large quantities of armored cables. The cables were allegedly removed from an electricity transformer in Darmanawa. NSCDC operatives intercepted Sani along Court Road, Gyadi-Gyadi, while he was transporting the stolen cables to the market.
The NSCDC confirmed that both suspects confessed to their crimes during interrogation. “Having thoroughly investigated, the two cases have been transferred to the Corps’ legal unit for prosecution,” said the command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi.
The NSCDC assured the public of its continued commitment to protecting public property and ensuring offenders face justice.
