The Kano Police Command has arrested one Abdulrahman Muhammad Yahaya, 25, a resident at Jogana in Gezawa Local Government Area of the state after an emergency call from the residents of the community.

Yahaya was arrested by the Police Puff Adder operatives from the Gezawa Police Division while in the cause of beating his girlfriend, one Binta Alhassan, 32, of Jogana quarter.

The suspect was reportedly to have made an attempt to murder Binta after scaling their fence and beating her to stupor while sleeping at her compound.

The Kano State Police Spokesman, SP Abdullahi Haruna who confirmed the incident to Daily News 24 said the suspect was arrested with a jack knife.

“We found a Jack Knife in his body, after he was arrested he brought out three thousand to bribe our Police, immediately C.P Sumaila Dikko ordered his transfer to our Police Headquarters at Bompai.

He added that Abdulrahaman is a threat in the community, stressed that Investigation is still ongoing and after all evidence has been gathered, he will charged to court.

Victim narrate her ordeal

Binta Alhassan, who narrated her ordeal, explained that he scaled through the fence and met her while sleeping.

“He untied my mosquito net and started beating me, while he told me he had been waiting for me. I replied to him; do whatever you wish.

“Immediately our neighbors came to my rescue. He jumped over the fence and ran away.

“We have not been communicating for about two weeks.” She narrated.

Suspect responds to Police questioning

Abdulrahman Muhammad Yahaya during interrogation by the Police narrated that; “I smoke weed and cigarettes, (Police) Who owns the Knife? He Replied; the knife is mine. (Police) What is your occupation? He replied; I am a Secondary School graduate searching for a Job.

(Police) What can you say about the allegations on you? He replied; I only quarreled with her, but never threatened to stab her to death, but I regret my actions. (Police) What do you use this Knife for? He replied; I use it for hunting preys in the bush.

Vigilante Command gave more insight

In an interview with the Vigilante Command of Jogana community confirmed the incident that “it was around 1:15pm when the incident occurred, I was on patrol when I heard a lady shouting for rescue, I approached the house knocking while I tried to enter but Abdulraham ordered that the door should remain closed.

“When he heard my voice he scaled the fence and ran away, on his return he threatened the vigilante group after I denied him access to his Cap and Knife”. He said.

Abdulrahaman called on his fellow addicts to refrain from illicit activities.
