Bashir, one of the sons of Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, has said the presidential candidate of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, would be “the next President Muhammadu Buhari.”

Kwankwaso came in fourth in the February 25 presidential election won by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) came in second, while Peter Obi of the Labour Party was third.

Kwankwaso won the election in Kano alone, where he polled a total of 997,279 votes, which made some of his critics refer to him as the “President of Kano.”

In his reaction on Twitter, Bashir stated: “Those laughing at Kwankwaso that he is only the president of Kano State will not be laughing so much in a few years.” “He is the next Buhari, potentially.”

The son of Kaduna’s governor is known for expressing his views on social media.

His elder brother, Bello, was elected into the House of Representatives to represent Kaduna North Federal Constituency.

Bello, who ran on the platform of the APC, defeated the Peoples Democratic Party’s Samaila Suleiman, who currently represents the constituency at the lower chamber of the National Assembly.

Samaila had defected to the PDP when he lost his reelection ticket to Bello.
