The Kano State Hospitals Management Board has raised an alarm over a fake donation request circulating on social media regarding the installation of an X-ray machine at Dambatta General Hospital.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the board’s Public Relations Officer, Samira Suleiman, the board distanced itself from a message seeking financial contributions through a phone number and account details allegedly for the installation of the equipment.

Suleiman clarified that while a philanthropist had indeed donated an X-ray machine worth N6.9 million to the hospital, the equipment has not yet been delivered.

“No member of the hospital staff or management has physically seen the machine. Only a receipt was presented to us,” the statement read.

She warned members of the public to be cautious and disregard any donation requests tied to the installation, describing the circulating message as fraudulent.

“The hospital and management board are not behind any such request. We urge everyone to stay vigilant and not fall prey to fraud,” she added.

The donation itself was acknowledged as a generous gesture by the hospital and the wider Dambatta community, but authorities emphasized that no further public funding is being solicited.

The board reassured the public that official updates on the machine’s arrival and usage will be communicated through proper channels.
