Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has named Umar Farouk Ibrahim as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

The appointment, which takes effect from Monday, February 10, 2025, was confirmed in a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Saturday.

Ibrahim, a seasoned administrator with over three decades in public service, is expected to leverage his experience to support the administration’s governance agenda. His career, spanning from 1987 to 2023, has seen him hold key positions that shaped the state’s administrative framework.

He previously served as the Permanent Secretary for Research, Evaluation, and Political Affairs from 2001 to 2015. He later held the position of Permanent Secretary for the Administration and General Services Directorate from 2015 to 2016.

Throughout his career, Ibrahim has been involved in major government committees, including those on independent power projects, payroll management, and the sale of government properties.

A graduate of Ahmadu Bello University with a degree in Political Science, Ibrahim has further enhanced his expertise through various professional certifications.

Governor Yusuf expressed confidence in his ability to drive the administration’s vision, emphasizing the need for experienced leadership in achieving sustainable development for Kano State.
