The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding soldiers carrying out their legitimate duties across the country.

He made this known on Wednesday in Abuja while addressing journalists during a ministerial press conference ahead of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Celebration and Remembrance Day.
The assurance comes amid public discussions surrounding an altercation between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and a naval officer reportedly linked to a land dispute in Abuja.
Badaru stressed that the Ministry of Defence and the Nigerian Armed Forces would not tolerate any action that undermines personnel performing their lawful responsibilities. He added that the government is reviewing the incident to ensure that officers acting within their mandate receive adequate protection.
