Security analyst Zagazola, who shared the information on his X account on Thursday, reported that the incident occurred at Murjani Hotel, Katsina, where the officer had lodged. Hotel staff found him lifeless in his room around 8:30 a.m. and immediately raised the alarm. Sources at the hotel said empty sachets of suspected substances were recovered from the room’s waste basket.

Three women were reportedly present in the hotel at the time. Khadija Ali, 34, from Dutsin Amare Quarters, Katsina, and Aisha Lawal, 30, from Ingawa Local Government Area, were said to have spent the night with the officer. Another woman, Hafsat Yusuf, 22, from Brigade Quarters, Kano, reportedly arrived later and also lodged in the hotel.

The officer’s body was transferred to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Katsina, where a medical doctor confirmed his death. It has since been deposited at the mortuary pending an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Authorities from the Nigeria Customs Service have been notified, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
