He disclosed this in an interview with BBC Hausa Service on Thursday, recounting how the incident occurred on a bus ride to the Emir of Bauchi’s palace during Vice President Kashim Shettima’s visit to Bauchi State on April 19.
According to Tuggar, the governor insulted his late father and threatened to slap him. Tuggar said he stood up to defend himself, and the state’s deputy governor, Muhammad Auwal Jatau, also threatened to slap him but could not get close because of the Vice President’s presence.
The incident sparked controversy when reports surfaced that the deputy governor had slapped Tuggar after he allegedly made disparaging remarks about the governor. However, Jatau has denied these claims.
