The gathering took place at Gidan Baballiya Kurna in Fagge Local Government Area and attracted Islamic clerics, party loyalists, and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from all 44 local government areas of the state.
During the event, Ulamas recited verses from the Holy Quran and offered prayers for President Tinubu’s re-election, Senator Barau’s governorship bid, and the overall peace and economic stability of the nation. A symbolic sacrifice of a ram was also carried out after the prayers.
Speaking on behalf of the movement, Seyi Olorunshaya commended President Tinubu’s performance, pointing to infrastructure development, improvement in food prices, job creation initiatives, and efforts at tackling insecurity. He described these as tangible reasons why the president deserves another term.
Supporters at the event also emphasized that Senator Barau remains the APC’s strongest contender to wrestle Kano’s political control from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), currently under the influence of former governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. Abdullahi Yusuf Atah was mentioned as a possible running mate in the governorship race.
The Tinubu/Barau/Atah Movement says its primary objective is to mobilize grassroots support across Kano and beyond, consolidating public confidence in the APC’s leadership and setting the stage for the 2027 polls.
