The Governing Council of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) has appointed Prof. Adamu Ahmed as the new Vice-Chancellor of the institution.

The announcement was made on Wednesday following the 209th Special Council meeting, presided over by Alhaji Mahmud Yayale-Ahmed.
Prof. Ahmed, a seasoned academic, has dedicated over 30 years to ABU, where he has served in various capacities as a lecturer and administrator. His educational journey is rooted in the institution, having obtained his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees there.

His career includes leadership roles such as Head of Urban and Regional Planning and Director of the Directorate of University Advancement. Additionally, in June 2024, President Bola Tinubu appointed him as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Education, Kano.
