The arrest occurred on Monday, March 24, 2025, at the Nyanya bus terminal in Abuja. The operation was carried out in collaboration with officials of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW). The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Nuhu Aminu from Katsina State, was found transporting the concealed ammunition.

Investigations revealed that Aminu was recruited by a man named Yakubu Kachalla from Funtua, Katsina State. He reportedly received N100,000 to collect the consignment from an unidentified contact in Nasarawa State and deliver it to Katsina.

The police described the arrest as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and prevent the proliferation of illegal arms. They assured that investigations would continue to track down other individuals involved in the operation.

The FCT Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Isyaku Sharu, called on residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
