The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has apprehended a 24-year-old suspect, Amir Mohammed, over a violent robbery incident in Kano.

Mohammed, a resident of Ja’en in Gwale Local Government Area, was arrested at the Federal Housing Estate, Sharada, after allegedly breaking into a house at midnight.

According to a statement by the NSCDC Kano Command, the suspect forcefully entered the home of one Alhaji Mustafa Abubakar, stabbing him and his family multiple times. “The victim sustained serious injuries, with stab wounds on 11 sensitive parts of his body, including the neck and chest,” the statement noted.

The suspect’s motive was reportedly to steal the victim’s smartphone and laptop, intending to access and empty his bank accounts.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Mohammed had previously entered the same compound eight days before the attack, stealing two SIM cards from the victim. NSCDC personnel stationed at the housing estate responded quickly, rushing the injured victim to the hospital for immediate medical attention.

The Command’s spokesperson, SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, stated that the NSCDC is currently investigating the attempted murder and robbery case, with efforts underway to track down an alleged accomplice identified as Abbas Danmama.

“Following our preliminary investigation, the case will be handed over to the Nigerian Police for further investigation and legal action,” Abdullahi added.
