The National Population Commission (NPC), says it has recruited 55,000 adhoc staff for the 2023 National Housing and Population Census in Kano State.

NPC Federal Commissioner in the state, Dr Ismaila Suleiman said this at a special summit on the 2023 National Population and Housing census, on Thursday in Kano.

He said the staff include enumerators, facilitators, supervisors and field coordinators, adding that the commission was fully ready towards ensuring reliable, accurate and credible census.

The commission, he said, covered 99 per cent of the country with physical presence in spite of security challenges.

According to him, the meeting will provide opportunity to discuss some of the achievements and chart a way forward.

“The objective of the stakeholders meeting is to also create more awareness of the 2023 census,” he said.

In his remark, Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje pledged the state government’s commitment towards a successful and credible census in the state.

Represented by Alhaji Usman Alhaji, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), the governor urged the stakeholders to sensitise their people to mobilise participation at the grassroots.

Also, the Emir of Rano, Alhaji Kabiru Muhammad-Inuwa, reitrated readiness of traditional rulers to create awareness on the importance of the census.
