Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has rolled out 1,600 newly recruited watchmen across the state’s secondary schools, handing out permanent and pensionable appointment letters to the security personnel.

According to a statement by Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Director-General of Media and Publicity at the Kano Government House, the governor described the deployment as a critical step toward restoring safety, discipline, and stability in public schools. He noted that a secure environment is essential for effective learning, stressing that students and teachers can only thrive where safety is guaranteed.
Governor Yusuf said the watchmen will serve as frontline protectors of school facilities, monitoring unauthorised activities and ensuring the smooth conduct of academic programs.
He also praised the Ministry of Education and the Kano State Secondary Schools Service Management Board (KSSSSMB) for their dedication in implementing government directives. The governor called on the new watchmen to perform their roles with vigilance, discipline, and integrity
