She made the statement on Thursday, August 28, 2025, while receiving a courtesy visit from the newly appointed Acting Zonal Director of the EFCC, Kano Zonal Directorate, Deputy Commander Sa’ad Hanafi Sa’ad, at her office in Kano.
Justice Aboki commended the Commission for its strict compliance with the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2015, particularly in the handling of confessional statements, which she described as vital to preserving the integrity of criminal prosecutions.
Speaking during the visit, Ag. Zonal Director Sa’ad emphasized the need to strengthen collaboration between the EFCC and the judiciary. He also raised concerns over the rising number of restraining orders issued against the Commission, noting that such orders often limit the EFCC’s ability to effectively investigate and prosecute cases.
To ensure faster dispensation of justice, Sa’ad suggested the possible designation of specific judges to handle EFCC cases, a practice that could expedite trial processes.
In response, Justice Aboki assured the EFCC of the judiciary’s commitment to performing its duties within the bounds of the law. She urged the Commission to continuously enhance the skills of its personnel, especially investigators, to ensure the efficient and effective prosecution of cases.
On the matter of restraining orders, the Chief Judge affirmed that judges under her supervision would grant them only when there is sufficient and compelling evidence to justify such actions.
