The announcement was made on Wednesday by Musa Tanko Muhammad, Press Secretary to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.
The taskforce, described as a high-powered committee, will be chaired by the State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya. The formal inauguration by the State Secretary General (SSG) is planned for a later date.
The government said the initiative seeks to strengthen participatory democracy by ensuring that all eligible Kano residents register to vote, following directives from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Authorities are calling on traditional leaders, civil society organisations, political parties, trade unions, and youth and women groups to collaborate and support the campaign.
Officials emphasized that voter registration is a civic duty and a key step in shaping governance, ensuring that the voices of Kano citizens are represented in elections.
