A female suicide bomber has killed at least 24 people and injured several others in a deadly attack at a food joint in Konduga town, Borno State, about 36 kilometres from Maiduguri.

The incident occurred around 10:00 p.m. on Friday when the attacker detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) at a popular food spot crowded with residents.
Police sources who spoke to security analyst Zagazola Makama confirmed that the explosion left 24 people, both men and women, dead, while many others suffered varying degrees of injuries. The bomber’s body was shattered by the blast, with only her head recovered at the scene.
A combined team of military personnel, police EOD-CBRN (Explosive Ordnance Disposal – Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) units, Tactical Teams, members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and local hunters immediately responded to the incident. The area was cordoned off and thoroughly searched, though no additional explosives were found.
The injured victims were taken to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) for treatment, while the remains of the deceased were deposited at the same facility. Medical staff on duty confirmed the deaths.
Authorities say profiling of the victims is ongoing, and arrangements are being made to release the corpses to their families for burial according to religious practices.
