Daily News 24 reports that the information was contained in a press statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.

Police said Abdulkadir, a resident of Madatai Quarters, was apprehended on May 23 following weeks of investigation and intelligence-driven operations after the April 6 incident.

The suspect is said to have confessed to the crime, admitting that he forcefully entered the victim’s matrimonial home, strangled her and stabbed her in the neck with a knife, which led to her death.

The tragic incident came to light when the victim’s husband, Ibrahim Mohammed, found her unconscious with deep neck injuries. She was rushed to the hospital but was confirmed dead.

Kiyawa said the suspect remains in custody and is assisting with further investigation. He will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the inquiry.

The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the officers involved in the case for their professionalism and dedication. He also urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
