Kano police train officers on ethics, cybersecurity

The Kano State Police Command has commenced a special training program focused on ethics and cybersecurity for officers of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), as part of efforts to strengthen professionalism and modernize policing in the state.

A statement issued on Wednesday by the Kano State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the training began on April 29 and brought together officers for an intensive session on investigative techniques, integrity, and digital security awareness.

Key topics covered during the training include strategies for tackling corruption, curbing extortion and misconduct, and improving cybersecurity consciousness among police personnel. Facilitators drawn from both within and outside the police force delivered presentations aimed at raising operational standards and ensuring accountability.

Addressing participants, the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, urged officers to take the training seriously, describing it as a vital opportunity to enhance their knowledge and keep up with evolving security demands. “This is a chance to not only learn but also refresh your commitment to professionalism and ethical conduct,” he said.

In recognition of his dedication to promoting cyber safety within the force, CP Bakori was presented with an award by the Cyber-Safe Youth Initiative. He dedicated the honour to the officers and men of the command, expressing hope that it would boost their morale and drive to tackle security challenges more effectively.

The command said similar training sessions will be extended to other departments as part of its broader plan to build capacity and improve service delivery across the state.
