Speaking at a meeting with stakeholders from Kogi East Senatorial District, Atiku explained that Obasanjo promptly directed the Service Chiefs to suppress the insurgency on a strict deadline, which led to the rapid containment of the threat. He emphasized that strong political will and firm leadership were key to the success of the early operation against Boko Haram.
Atiku went on to contrast this with later administrations, criticizing them for allowing the insurgents to regroup and expand due to inaction and lack of urgency. He expressed concern over the current insecurity in the country and blamed it on a failure of political will by today’s leaders.
He further stressed that protecting the lives of citizens is a fundamental responsibility of government, holding current officials accountable for the worsening security situation in Nigeria.
