Tragedy struck in Kaltungo, Gombe State, as a 16-year-old girl, Maryam Samuel, was found dead in an apparent suicide.

The Gombe State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that Maryam’s body was discovered hanging from a tree on March 14. According to police spokesman DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the village head of Kalarin reported the case to the Kaltungo Divisional Headquarters.
Investigators found no signs of violence on the deceased, and her remains were taken to General Hospital Kaltungo for further examination. Preliminary findings indicate that Maryam had left home that Thursday to fetch firewood in a nearby bush.
While authorities continue their investigation, a source close to the family alleged that the teenager was pregnant, which reportedly led to tensions with her parents.
