Zamfara State First Lady, Hajiya Aisha Bello Muhammad (Matawallen Maradun), has empowered 500 vulnerable women in the state with 250 tailoring and 250 grinding machines under her Zamfara State Women Empowerment scheme to alleviate poverty among women in the society.

The month of June Empowerment is in line with her continuous strive to provide a sustainable livelihood for women. The program is also an addition to Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle’s two years of administration in the state under the First Lady’s office.

Hajiya Aisha Bello Matawalle, while presenting the sewing and grinding machines to the beneficiaries, said that to help women explore their potentials, they need to create an enabling environment where they will be economically uplifted.

According to her, the Empowerment scheme, which has improved the living standard of over 38,000 women so far, keeps recording more success stories across the state.

Hajiya Aisha Matawalle urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the machines for their livelihoods to gain more positive results economically.

The First Lady, Hajiya Aisha Bello Matawalle, expressed appreciation to her husband, the Executive Governor, Dr Bello Matawalle, who has supported the process morally and financially for the sustainability of the Programme. She applauded his passionate commitment to the plights of women and children in the State.

Many vulnerable women who benefitted from the Empowerment package include women with disabilities, youth groups, widows, religious groups, non-indigenes, market women and many others.

The occasion was attended by many key stakeholders and governments dignitaries, among which are: The State Head of Service Alhaji Kabiru Balarabe, HRH Emir of Gusau Sarkin Katsinan Gusau Alhaji Dr Ibrahim Bello, The PDP State Chairman, Alhaji Tukur Umar Danfulani, Honourable Commissioners for Information Ibrahim Magaji Dosara, Finance Alhaji Sufuyanu Bashir Yuguda, State PDP Secretary Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Dangaladima Birnin Magaji, PDP Women stalwarts, Special Advisers, Permanent Secretaries, Director Generals, wives of Honourable members State House of Assembly, wives of Former Sole Administrators and all the five hundred beneficiaries among others.
