Alhaji Ibrahim Barde, the Village Head of Gubana in Yobe has died at the age of 100.

Barde, who died on Sunday in Gubana village after a protracted illness, was the elder brother of Yobe Deputy Governor, Alhaji Idi Gubana.

The deceased, who was buried on Monday in Gubana, left behind three wives and 16 children.

One of the children is Alhaji Hamidu Ibrahim, a retired Director of Finance in the state civil service.

The funeral prayer was led by the Special Adviser to Gov Mai Mala Buni on Religious Affairs, Alhaji Baba Kyari.

The deputy governor described the deceased as a dynamic and humble leader who spent greater part of his life serving, uniting and guiding his people.

Gubana prayed Allah to forgive the deceased and grant the family and people of the area the fortitude to bear the loss.

Those at the funeral prayer were the Speaker, Yobe House of Assembly, Alhaji Hassan Mirwa, Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Baba Wali, the Emir of Fika and Chairman, Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Mohammad Ibn Abali, among others.

It could be recalled, some months ago the Deputy Governor lost his daughter, Khadija, in an auto crash.

The accident, which occurred along the Maiduguri-Kano highway on Saturday, June 11, also claimed the life of Gubana’s seven-year-old son.
