Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has revealed that his recent visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari’s residence was purely a gesture of unity and brotherhood, dismissing speculations of any political motive behind the gathering.

The visit, which took place on Friday, brought together several prominent Nigerian politicians, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, and former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, among others.

In a post shared on his social media page on Friday, El-Rufai clarified that the meeting was centered around the observance of Jumaat prayers and a luncheon hosted by the former president at his Kaduna residence.

He emphasized that it was not a political gathering, but rather an opportunity for old friends and associates to reconnect and promote unity. The former governor advised the opposition not to lose sleep over a simple gathering of friends.

El-Rufai, who recently announced his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Social Democratic Party (SDP), also disclosed that he had earlier informed Buhari of his decision. According to him, the former president offered prayers and expressed goodwill for his new political path.

Buhari has continued to affirm his commitment to the APC, even as several of his former allies shift political allegiance.
