Former Senator for Kaduna Central Senatorial District of Kaduna State, Shehu Sani, has given a reason why lawmakers in the red chamber of the National Assembly hardly engage in a fistfight.

In a post on his Facebook page on Saturday, Sani said that unlike the Ghanaian parliament and the House of Representatives that usually witness such brawls, the Senate mainly consists of older people.

He said: “I have seen the exchange of blows in the Ghanaian Parliament. The exchange of blows can’t happen in the Nigerian Senate. Still, it can always happen in the House of Representatives because they are much younger and energetic. Most Senators are aged people and retirees.

“You can’t imagine Senators like Philip Aduda, Abdullahi Adamu or Jerrimiah Useini or Jonah Jang exchanging blows. There are very few people like me who are muscular with six-packs.”

PlatinumPost reports that Sani, who represented Kaduna Central in the National Assembly between 2015 and 2019 under the All Progressives Congress (APC) banner, recently joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
