The United Nations Economic and Social Council UNESCO has assured to restore peace in almost the troubled six geopolitical zones of Nigeria, thereby bringing together Government officials, diplomats, civil society representatives, journalists, among other key stakeholders.
The newly appointed Special Adviser on community peace and development, UNESCO, Prof.Olumuyiwa Babalola, gave the assurance when he paid a courtesy visit to special Adviser to President Buhari on Media and publicity, Femi Adesina, at the Villa, and the Chairman Senate Committee on National security and intelligence, Sen.Dr. Ibrahim Abdullahi Gobir
Babalola affirmed his mission focus on a non-stop approach to impact the lives of communities, designing policy recommendations in areas of conflict mitigation, rehabilitation and reintegration of those associated with violent extremism and facilitating and supporting peace elections sharing strategies on peace and stability in Nigeria.
“My office will bring together Government Officials, Academics, Diplomats, Civil Society Representatives and Journalists to explore ways in which stable and sustainable security and peace can be achieved in all the six (6) Geo-political zones in Nigeria and also commit to defending the stand for the mission and vision of the UNESC with dedication and discipline to achieve its outreach and success”, he noted
On his part, Femi Adeshina appreciated and thanked the new UNESCO Special Advisor for his assiduous, countless initiatives and humanitarian work to improve the working relationship with the Federal Government of Nigeria.
