The announcement came on Wednesday during the signing of the Kaduna Mutual Accountability Framework (KaMAF) between the Kaduna State Government and the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
Governor Uba Sani, who signed the agreement alongside the UK Development Director, Cynthia Rowe, described the move as a “major vote of confidence” in Kaduna’s progress. He noted that the state has recorded gains in health, education, agriculture, and reforms, citing reduced maternal and child mortality and broader healthcare access as examples.
Under KaMAF, both parties committed to strengthening collaboration in governance, agriculture, health, and education. The framework also prioritizes reforms aimed at accountability and transparency, including community development charters, issue-based projects, and the Local Government Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability program.
Governor Sani disclosed that more than 10 percent of Kaduna’s 2025 budget is allocated to boosting crop and livestock productivity. He stressed that such investment would further enhance food security and rural livelihoods.
Rowe, on her part, said the UK recognizes Kaduna’s progress in tackling insecurity and deepening reforms. She added that the new travel rating signals the state is “open for business,” while noting that caution is still advised in certain rural areas.
The UK pledged to continue supporting Kaduna’s growth through institutional reforms and targeted development programs, building on the momentum of the new partnership.
