Two persons were on Monday confirmed dead following a fresh attack on NTV community in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The Punch reports that the two victims were killed when gunmen suspected to be Fulani militia attacked the community on Sunday night.

It was further learnt that residents of the community who were angered by the killings blocked the Bokkos-Barkin Ladi road on Monday in protest, calling on the government to halt the activities of the gunmen in their locality.

The development was said to have caused gridlock on the busy highway while motorists were stranded on the road for hours.

A worker at the Plateau state University, Bokkos who was among those stranded on the road due to the protest, confirmed the development to newsmen in Jos on Monday.

He said, “I was on my way this morning (Monday ) to my place of work at the Plateau state University , Bokkos.

“When we got to the NTV village,we discovered that the road was blocked by protesters with many of the people shouting and crying.

“When we enquired what the problem was, they told us that some gunmen who they believe were Fulani attacked their community last night (Sunday) and killed two persons.

“And because of that, the villagers came out and blocked the Bokkos -Barkin Ladi road which caused motorists and other road users to be stranded for hours due to the blockage.”

The University worker said that it took the intervention of some security agents who arrived the village before the protesters could reopen the road.

When contacted over the attack on the community ,the Spokesman for the Plateau state Police Command, Alabo Alfred, promised to get back to our correspondent on the incident.

However, he was yet to do so as at the time of filing this report.
