President Bola Tinubu’s prized horse, ‘Renewed Hope’, galloped to victory at the Hope Renewed 1st Year Anniversary Horse Racing Derby, culminating in a thrilling finale on Saturday in Kaduna.

The prestigious event, spanning four days and organized by the Horse Racing Federation of Nigeria (HRFN), showcased top-tier racing talent from across the nation. ‘Renewed Hope’ emerged victorious in the fiercely competitive ‘Division 1 ThoroughBreed’ race, covering a challenging distance of 10 furlongs (2,000 meters).

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), which covered the event extensively, ‘Renewed Hope’ not only claimed the coveted first place but also secured a grand prize package including a car, a trophy, and a cash prize of N100,000.

In a closely contested race, ‘Sarauinya’ clinched the second position in the division, earning a notable cash reward of N1 million. Following closely, ‘Holiday Parade’ dashed to a commendable third place, securing a prize of N700,000. Meanwhile, ‘Nawal’ rounded up the top positions in fourth place, earning a cash prize of N500,000.

The closing ceremony of the derby was graced by distinguished personalities, including the Life Patron of the federation and the revered Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar. Representing the Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Ilyasu Bashar, was the Sarkin Borgun Ka’oje, Alhaji Ahmed Tijani-Anaje, alongside the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland and other notable dignitaries.

The successful coordination of the event was credited to Alhaji Mustapha Abubakar-Bida, the President of the federation, and the esteemed ‘Sarkin Dawakin Nupe’.
