President Bola Tinubu has sacked Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja, now known as Yakubu Gowon University.

This is contained in a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga -Special Adviser to the President on Thursday

Along with Maikudi’s dismissal, the entire governing council of the university has been dissolved.

Senator Lanre Tejuoso has been appointed the new Pro-Chancellor, while Professor Lar Patricia Manko will serve as Acting Vice-Chancellor for the next six months.

Further leadership changes include the removal of Professor Polycarp Emeka Chigbu as Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). Professor Oguejiofu T. Ujam has been appointed his successor for a six-month term. General Ike Nwachukwu has been reassigned as Pro-Chancellor of the University of Uyo, while Engineer Olubunmi Kayode Ojo takes over as Pro-Chancellor at UNN.

Other key appointments under the reshuffle include Professor Zubairu Tajo Abdullahi as Pro-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lokoja, Senator Sani Stores as Pro-Chancellor of Alvan Ikoku University of Education, and Barrister Olugbenga Kukoyi as Pro-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka, Anambra State.
