On Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu voiced grave concern over the severe flooding in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.

The flooding, the worst in recent decades, has displaced thousands and impacted key facilities, including the Post Office and Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.

In a statement from his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu expressed deep sympathy for the people of Borno State, particularly those who have lost their livelihoods due to the flooding caused by the overflow of the Alau Dam.

As authorities continue to assess the extent of the damage, President Tinubu urged the immediate evacuation of residents from the affected areas.

He assured Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of the Federal Government’s commitment to collaborating in addressing the urgent humanitarian needs of those impacted. President Tinubu also directed the National Emergency Management Agency to support flood victims and affirmed his dedication to mobilizing federal resources to aid the state during this challenging period.
